Tips For Beginner Bloggers

tips for beginner bloggers

Blogging has become an extremely popular online informational tool but for those making their first attempt at it, road blocks may seem to come from all sides.  It is important that, above all else, you remember that a blog is not something that can be developed over night.  It takes time, patience and above all else, perseverance to develop a successful blog site.

When first starting out, it is also important that you understand the proper purpose for a well-developed blog site.  Many first timers get caught up in the excitement and decide to talk about every topic known to man.  A blog that has no focus is a blog that is doomed to fail and this leads us to our very first tip for beginner bloggers.

Find a Niche

Before we discuss the benefits of finding a niche, we must first be certain that everyone understands exactly what a niche is.  To put it plainly, a niche is a highly targeted area that you might have a higher level of expertise in.  It is not a group of subjects, but much rather a single subject that a large number of people may show an interest in.

If you want to build a successful blog site, then you are going to have to ‘find your niche’.  This doesn’t mean to jump on the first exciting thing that comes to mind but it does mean that you will need to do some serious research before ever starting out as a blogger.  Look for a niche that is quite popular but make sure that you are truly passionate about it as well.

Create a Domain Name

Once you have determined your niche, it is time to move on to the next step in your blog setup.  Tip number two is to create your new domain name.  This can be easily done online so obtaining your domain name isn’t what we are talking about.  We are talking about physically coming up with a domain name that you like, that applies to the topic of your new blog and that will be easily found by those whom you are attempting to attract.

The first thing that you want to consider when creating a domain name is to make it something that is easy to remember.  This will be very appealing to those visiting your blog site as they will be able to commit it to memory quite easily.  Keep in mind that you don’t want a domain name that is extremely long and drawn out.  The longer it is, the harder it will be to remember.

You will also want your new domain name to be directly related to your niche.  This is extremely important and can be very useful in making your blog site an easy site to find.  Remember to make it as unique as possible and keep its spelling as simple as possible.  Try inserting a primary keyword into the name and watch what it does to your search engine ranking.

Find a Hosting Company

Once you have picked out and purchased your new domain name, you can move on to the next step which is to find a hosting company.  What you don’t want to do is pick the first one you see just because it is at the top of the search results.  Above all else, you want to find a hosting company that is very reliable and equally affordable.

Realistically, you shouldn’t have to fork out any more than $8.00-$12.00 each month and that should produce a worthy host.  Sites such as godaddy have been around for many years and they provide excellent hosting services.  They are also very reasonably priced as their monthly fee is right at about $8.99 per month.

Find a Theme

Now that you have survived each of the boring aspects of blog development, you can move on into the fun stuff.  It is time to pick out a theme for your site.  There are many different directions that a theme can take but much of the decision will depend on the niche itself.  Above all else, try to keep your theme as professional as is possible.

We are living in a time where most people turn to their mobile devices for their internet access and that is why you will want to be sure that your theme is optimized for mobile devices.  This isn’t as difficult as it sounds so don’t let it scare you too much.  Websites such as Themeforest.net are filled with amazing themes that work great for mobile optimization.

Content is King

And that leads us to the final tip being to remember that content truly is king.  Like any other king, content is most important and must be treated as such.  A king is expected to possess only the very best of traits and is also expected to present himself accordingly.  Likewise, your blog content is most important and should always be treated as such.

When in doubt, remember that quality is always better than quantity.  Visitors to your blog would much rather find one page full of high quality videos, infographics and articles than a dozen pages that make no sense whatsoever.  Keep it relevant, keep it current and most importantly, keep it simple.  If you just remember these three things alone, your blog will be on its way to success in no time flat.
